How long have you been writing poetry?
I have probably been writing poetry since 2nd grade. But I only started writing for fun in 3rd. grade.
Where do you get your inspiration from?
I get my inspiration from everywhere! A person on the street or a tree I pass while I walk my dog after school. That's my favorite part about poetry. You can create a poem out of anything, or even nothing, and play with what you think the inner meaning of that object is.
Who is your favorite poet? Why?
I don't really have a favorite poet. I like different poems from different authors. But, if I had to pick, it would probably be Robert Frost. I love his nature poems. The description and the inner meanings are like puzzles for me to figure out. They are just really fun to read because you can look at them in so many different ways.
What advice can you give young writers?
I would have to say just follow your thoughts and feelings when you write poetry. Don't say,"This is going to be a perfect poem" then be dissapointed when it doesn't live up to your standards. Write what you feel, and you never know. You might end up writing an amazing poem just by completing a homework assignment.
