How long have you been writing poetry?

I have been writing poetry for a while. I became very interested in the seventh grade because my teacher really explained all of the different forms of poetry. I loved the way that you could make words flow together and express such strong emotions.

Where do you get your inspiration from?

I usually get my poems from the emotions going through my head. I also get inspired from the beauty of the world around me.

Who is your favorite poet? Why?

My favorite poet is Shel Silverstein. My love for his poems dates back to when my teacher would read these poems in class all the time. His poems are simple and fun. They have cute messages and are great to read.

What advice can you give young writers?

I would tell every young writer to write from the heart. They should write about the things that are floating around in their heads. Using this technique would help create emotional poems and clear their heads at the same time.
