Change is Coming To Jackson Heights Poetry Festival and First Tuesdays
| Starting in September 2012, Richard Jeffrey Newman will be hosting the Jackson Heights Poetry Festival's monthly open mic. We'll still be starting at 7:00 at Terraza Cafe, on Gleane Street and Roosevelt Avenue in Jackson Heights. The First Tuesdays website will be going live in mid-August. You'll be able to find it here.
Richard, who curated the JHPF literary salons at The Garden School, will be taking over for JHPF's founder, Marina Yoffe, under whose leadership First Tuesdays grew into one of the most welcoming open mic series in the city, a place where almost every month someone gets up for the first time to read their work and receive the kind of encouragement we all need. Richard plans to continue that tradition. |
