Remember me
Marie Douyon
Queens Preparatory Academy, Grade: 10

Why remember me when the memories start to fade and the tears subside?

Why remember me when my clothes get dusty and our room feels bare and gets cold?
Why remember me and cry and say \"If only...If only we were together a little longer.\"

Remember me now, when my skin is still warm and my eyes are still alive, prancing with joy and delight.

Remember me now, when my voice still rings with laughter and my cheeks are full of color.

Remember me now when we walk down the golden fields and look into each others eyes and know our love can travel for miles, and never get tired.

So remember me now. As time goes on and I age. Remember me now before Im dressed in black, sleeping in white.

Remember me now, my love, where our presence, not memories, can forever live on.

Self Perfection
Jonathan Cortez
Garden School, Grade: 9

A feeling of disappointment has put a dent
Within my life in which I strive
Towards the essence of the word perfection,
The manifestation of such a state
Impossible as we are subject to fate;
Limitations that bound us to the ground
To think of a way to manipulate this will astound The crowd with how profound You may be but perfect I think not,
From day one we are all taught
Only one is perfect, him residing above,
But an epiphany caught me when push came to shove
Within your ability you find perfection,
Within your self you shall make the connection,
Between the meaning and the perception,
For this word too is subject to deception.

poem: say goodnight to me because im not waking up. save my dreams so you see what i always thought about you. hold my hand so i can feel you one more time. lay your head on my chest to remember how my heart beat for you. say goodnight so you can remember the sound of my voice saying i love you. i always see your face with your sadness hidden somewhere deep within. your eyes tell the truth that your smile covers up. tell me one more time why you wont let me warm your heart. answer my call and remind me why you dont want to take me in. you cant deny your empty heart yearns for something. all the things youve ever told me replay in my head. say goodnight to me because im not waking up. save my dreams so you see what i always thought about you. hold my hand so i can feel you one more time. lay your head on my chest to remember how my heart beat for you. say goodnight so you can remember the sound of my voice saying i love you. i remember the sound of your heart breaking. youre drifting away but all you really want is to be held. tell me your secrets and ill protect you always. answer to yourself what it is you truly want. you cant keep running towards the darkness you want to hide in. all the things youve ever feared await you and me. say goodnight to me because im not waking up. save my dreams so you see what i always thought about you. hold my hand so i can feel you one more time. lay your head on my chest to remember how my heart beat for you. say goodnight so you can remember the sound of my voice saying i love you.
